Jean, Ward Assistant

The main reason I wanted to work on the ward was that my brother passed away in Willow Wood, and I was so impressed both with the excellent care he received and the thoughtfulness and care which was extended to our family.

I have been a ward assistant for over seven years, and I couldn't have met nicer people. I truly enjoy helping the staff to look after all the patients. My duties include serving the meals to them, changing water jugs, making drinks etc. I also answer the direct inpatients telephone and generally make myself useful. It is also nice to talk to the patients and their families, and I like to feel I make a difference in some small way.

The members of staff have always treated me as part of their team and are always available if I need to check on any matter concerning the patients and their families. I look forward to going on duty every Wednesday evening and hope I can continue to do so for many years to come.

I also work on reception on Thursday evenings, which again, I thoroughly enjoy.
