Eric, Waterloo Cafe
I’d like to start with a quote from the best-selling book in the world: “It is better to give than to receive”.
So when the time came in my life when I was able to give of my time without being paid I decided to do exactly that. And what better way can there be than to give your time to an organisation that makes the last moments of a person’s life comfortable and dignified. It’s also an organisation that brings respite to many who are experiencing very serious illnesses.
Willow Wood Hospice is such an organisation.
The rewards by becoming a volunteer go far beyond a pay packet. The friendships and benefits to one’s own health are priceless. One illness today is loneliness, and volunteering helps to solve this.
At the Waterloo/café our manager Kellie is the glue that holds everything together, and over the last 15 months she has brought together a team of volunteers that has now become a family. Helping to keep Willow Wood serving the community by raising funds is an uplifting part of life for all of us now.
So why not come and join us?
There are many roles to suit everyone, so join us and enjoy the act of giving.
