I started to volunteer and fundraise for this amazing Hospice when we sadly lost one amazing, caring, fiesty lady; my mother-in-law Kathleen Wild.
Kathleen received the most amazing care from the nurses, Doctors and staff whilst she spent her final days as an in patient. Nothing was any trouble and I believe Kathleen, although end of life, she was happy and comfortable in the Hospice.
Whilst I was sat with Kathleen and her son Stephen now my hubby I pledged to raise money to help others continue to receive the fantastic care she had received.
£40,000 later and lots of great events, supported by friends, family and entertainers I really felt a bond with the Hospice.
I have made lots of friends with the staff and wonderful Volunteers. I am part of this amazing Family.
I now volunteer in another way by giving up my time to help on reception.
I know what it’s like coming into the reception and being greeted with a warm friendly smile. This is what I do now and absolutely love it.
I would recommend that once you start to volunteer for this fabulous place it brings a sad situation that happened over 8 years into something very special.
I am sure my dear mother in law Kathleen is by my side in spirit when I am on reception. I feel an amazing warm feeling and connection here at this beautiful place.
