For the past four weeks a number of year 10 pupils from Copley Academy have been visiting Willow Wood to learn about Hospice care. Over this period, they have spent time with Day patients, staff and volunteers to gain a better understanding of the care and support offered to our patients and their families.
Thursday 9 March saw Tameside Radio come to Willow Wood for the day. Between 10am and 3pm there were interviews with patients, with their loved ones, with staff and with volunteers, all giving a real insight into what goes on in a typical day at the Hospice.
Here at Willow Wood the focus is on treating the whole person and we use complementary therapies alongside more conventional medical treatments. This holistic approach helps with relaxation and can provide a sense of wellbeing which in turn helps with both physical and emotional symptoms.
