Lynn, support worker
My name is Lynn Gradwell and in the year 2000 I walked into Willow Wood as a support worker on the In-Patient Unit; 19 years later I’m still walking the ward and still loving every minute of it.
I feel very privileged to look after our patients, to share their journey, to help ease their pain, to give them comfort, to laugh, to smile and to give love to them and their families. And sometimes to cry a little.
Willow Wood is an amazing place from the wards to our gardens and our wonderful volunteers who help to run the Hospice.I feel very privileged to work with such an amazing staff who I also call my friends. They are there when I need a shoulder to cry on and to have a laugh with when things sometimes get hard.We all pull together because every day is different.
Over the last two years I also do tours around the Hospice and I’m so very proud to show people around our amazing place. The tours are about 90 minutes long, and give an insight into our work and facilities. They are for groups or organisations, or you can book as an individual – just ring 0161 330 1100 to leave your details and I’ll get back to you with a proposed date and time.
The people of Tameside and Glossop helped to build Willow Wood, and continue to help to run it through their fundraising efforts and we are all truly grateful.Thank you all for making my nineteen years at Willow Wood a very worthwhile journey.
