Our shops will always try to recycle anything that is not suitable for sale. However, they are not there as a replacement for a trip to the local tip and we politely request that all donated items are good quality.
There are occasions when the Hospice shops are unable to sell donated items due to their condition. In this case we look to sell on these items, mainly clothes and textiles, to a reputable recycling company. The additional income from this added source is always very welcome to the Hospice who, by acting in an environmentally friendly manner, are diverting textile waste from going to landfill sites.
There isn't much that the Hospice can't recycle; we have over the years recycled mobile phone, old European currency and have even launched a key recycling scheme.
