Butterfly Memory Release

A wonderful way to remember someone special - release a Painted Lady butterfly into the beautiful gardens here at Willow Wood. ALL BUTTERFLIES HAVE NOW BEEN DEDICATED. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT.

On Saturday 15 July, you will have the opportunity to release an adult Painted Lady (Vanessa Cardui) butterfly in memory of a loved one. Each butterfly will be handed to you in a small white box which has been designed so that the butterflies will roost inside, awakening slowly as the box is opened before stretching their wings and flying to live among the flowers.

Painted Ladies live in the UK during the Summer months and so will not upset the ecological balance; the Butterfly Memory Release will in fact enhance the naturally occurring population. The butterflies released on the day will go on to lay their eggs in the gardens so becoming part of the wondrous circle of life.

The Butterfly Release will be part of the Willow Wood Summer Fete, and you are welcome to attend just for the Memory Release itself, or to enjoy the afternoon browsing the stalls or enjoying a delicious cake or snack.

If you are unable to attend the Memory Releaseitself, but wish to remember a loved one, then rest assured that a butterfly will be released withrespect by a member of staff or a volunteer at Willow Wood. You will then receive, either at the Butterfly Release itself, or through the post if you are unable to attend, a commemorative certificate bearing the name of your loved one.

The butterflies will be released at 12noon and at 3pm - you will be notified if your butterfly is being released at the earlier time.
